UET to start on-campus classes after Eid Holidays

As the entire world tried to cope with covid-19, education took the much needed digital path. On the other end, situation doesn’t seem to improve but the cases are constantly declining in the country. Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training has shown intent to open all educational institutes in the mid of September, based on the assessment of the situation. A meeting between provincial educational ministers was also held last month in which all institutes were allowed to call their staff from 15th August, 2020.

University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has taken a giant leap forward in which on campus classes are to be resumed from 17th August, 2020. This information was also publicized through an official notification from the university. In order to remain compliant with SOPs of covid-19, classes will be resumed in a phase wise manner. Students of 2018 batch will resume their classes from 17th August, whereas, 2017 batch will start coming back from 2nd of September, 2020. However, a special change is also adjusted in notification which is addressed by stating that this reopening policy is subject to change as per the federal policy.

In the meantime, all academic meetings are being conducted online and this reopening decision was also taken in 222nd meeting of Academic Council of UET. On the other end, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed petition against government’s decision of opening up of schools as petitioners have requested court to allow them the opening of schools from mid of August.
