One more proud moment for Pakistan, students of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Science and Technology got best record 2nd position in the world and 1st in Asia in the proposal phase of AIAA DBF 21. Team Invictus has the honour of being Pakistan's representative over the last 10 years in the AIAA DBF (Design/Build/Fly) Competition. AIAA DBF is a global Remote Controlled(R/C) aircraft competition. This competition is supported and controlled by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Cessna Aircraft Company, and Raytheon Missile Systems. This competition is organized every year, where hundreds of students send their proposals to get part of this competition. Team Invictus has been participating in this competition and holds its best position over the last year. But this year, the team has broken all the records making its institute and country proud by scoring the best second position in the World. Team Invictus has scored 85.9 by using the advanced technology cooperative and an efficient team structure.
This year 115 proposals were accepted by the whole world. The well-known Engineering institutes like MIT, UC Berkeley, and Stanford also took part in this competition. To meet the annually changing mission statement, teams are required to design and built electric-powered R/C aerial vehicle along with a 60-page technical report. Team Invictus was instructed to design an “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) capable of carrying a remotely deployable sensor suite to carry out reconnaissance missions, as well as carry cargo-containers”. The team performed their best by using 3d and other advanced technology and won the competition by securing 2nd position in all five continents.
The team Invictus is thankful to GIKI for its constant sustenance and wants to make the country proud by raising its flag high in the whole world. The competition was held in December 2020 but there was no attention raised at such a soulful moment for Pakistan.
