The Supreme Court of Pakistan dissolved Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and created a temporary committee which will be responsible for running the affairs of PMDC.

This temporary committee will keep on working, whereas, the same setup will do the inspection of medical colleges after creating a separate committee, remarked Chief Justice Saqib Nisar while hearing the case regarding the legal status of PMDC. The temporary committee will work under the guidance of Justice Shakir Ullah Jan.

Earlier, a high court bench had declared the PMDC as an illegal institution and had ordered the federal government to conduct new elections under the light of council’s 1962 ordinance.
