Rawalpindi Gordon College students protest, principal and vice-principal sacked

Students and teachers of Rawalpindi Government Gordon College staged a protest on Murree Road against privatization, after which Principal Dr. Idris and Vice-Principal Dr. Nafees were removed from their posts.
 
Status officer Zeeshan has also been suspended, two persons can continue to work as lecturers. Director Colleges Rawalpindi Sher Ahmed Sati issued the notification.
 
The protesters stopped the traffic and staged a dharna in front of the Director Colleges office. The students of Government Gordon College have been protesting against the privatization of the college for the past one month and even today the students boycotted the classes and staged a protest on Murree Road.
The protestors blocked Murree Road from Committee Chowk for the last several hours. Professors also participated in the protest. The city traffic police provided an alternative route to the vehicles going to Islamabad.
 
Director of Rawalpindi Colleges Sher Ahmed Sati said that there was no notification from the government about the privatization of Gordon College or handing over to any mission, there were no talks with the student leadership today but it was held two days ago. He was supposed to come, but he didn't.
 
He said that two days ago, it was made clear to the students that the college handover is not happening on Monday, but today they are protesting against someone's decision. However, the draft will be ready now, which may take several years.
