Punjab University’s Murree House approved by PHEC

 

Punjab’s Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has declared the establishment of a Murree House of Punjab University. This information was made public through a notification issued by the authorities of PHEC. Murree House will of course be used for carrying out academic activities in that region. Punjab University (PU) had already shared their plan with PHEC but was subjected to approval. As the approval has been granted, hence, PU will now try to implement their plan at their earliest. The plan includes the establishment of a university in that very “Murree House”.

Kohsar University will be established within this Murree House of PU. The admissions for students will also be opened this year starting from September and October. As far as the appointments in university are concerned, they will soon be started with Vice Chancellor’s appointment expected within the coming week. The notification states that Punjab House in Murree and adjoining 86 Kanal of land has been transferred to Punjab University for carrying out academic activities. The degrees and programs offered are a future development but Tourism and Hospitality Management are already announced.

Approval for the university was given by Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar in the month of January, however, its implementation was due in coming months. The formal procedure and notification was delayed due to spread of corona virus pandemic. Nevertheless, the notification has been issued by PHEC and the matter has been formalized. With all these developments, the campus might be operational for the coming academic year starting in August and September.
