Government notified all the schools to remain closed as associated with COVID – 19 Emergency Relief Ordinance but all the owners of private schools filed a petition against it in Sindh High Court (SHC). The two judge bench directed all provincial governments to reply back against the petition in the next hearing scheduled on 3rd June. Private schools also rejected the idea of reducing 20% fee.
The schools said that government has taken a decision without discussing it with them. Sindh’s own government were among the first ones to instruct all private schools to collect 80% of total monthly fee but private schools replied that education minister had announced the decision on his own with ignoring the fact that what financial impact it might have on schools. Private schools also made an appeal to the bench for making 80% fee collection orders null and void. Nevertheless, the final verdict is yet to come and Sindh High Court requested private schools to hold their horses until next hearing.
