PCTB denies the claims of omitting chapters from syllabus

Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB)  denies the claims of skipping the chapters on religious, national personalities and Islam from the textbooks.

The chairperson of Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board Rana Tariq while talking to the media said that the concerns were raised the the textbook board had reviewed the syllabus and skipped some chapters relevant to religious and the national personalities as well.

He further added, “these claims are not correct and no such modification has been made in the syllabus across the province.”

It was also stated that the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board had omitted the chapters on religious and national personalities from the Urdu books of class 3rd and class 4th and from the English Textbooks of Class 3rd and Class 5th, he added.

Chair person of PCTB said, “There has been no exclusion of these chapters from the syllabus instead the PCTB has ordered the topics plus involved the chapters in various books throughout the school syllabus to focus on these topics in a better way.”

Mr. Rana Tariq highlighted that the re-distribution of the topics was made in discussion along with the professionals as well as the books were based on national syllabus of 2006.

On the other hand responding to the news of changes in the curriculum, the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) announced to stage a protest against the government on Monday (today) outside Lahore Press Club.
