Pakistan has launched two satellites using Chinese space station Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 11:56 a.m. on Monday.
The PRSS-1 is China’s first optical remote sensing satellite which has been developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). Pakistan has purchased the satellites from CAST with an intention of a dual-purpose Earth observational and optical satellite.
PAK-TES-1A is the second satellite which has been developed by Space and Upper Atmospheric Research Commission (Suparco) to increase the country’s capabilities in satellite manufacturing industry.
The satellites would help Pakistan to collect data about weather, agriculture and environment and enhance dependency on satellites for data collection and monitoring process.
The satellites were transported to China because of Pakistan’s lacking ability to launch the satellites on their own.
The president and prime minister congratulated the nation and SUPARCO on this historic achievement. The project will strengthen ties between China and Pakistan.
