Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will launch distance learning teachers’ training programme for the autumn semester this year.

The programme is intended to honor the candidates with certificates after the successful completion six-month programme. The university is the first institution in the country providing training to the teachers engaged in educational activities via online or distance learning.

The programme has been designed in collaboration with UNESCO, JICA and Federal Ministry of Education. It will mainly focus on the marginalized section of the society.

Based on Accelerated education curriculum and Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training has prepared has prepared it. Multi-grade teaching, use of Moocs and Moodles are the prominent features of this programme.

The programme will be more beneficial for the students of rural Sindh and Balochistan. UNESCO has recently acknowledged the efforts of the university in organizing such training programmes and establishing Adult Learning Centers.
