Ministry of Law rejects promotion of matric and inter students without exams

The ministry of law has now come to the center stage in the long going debate of promotion cases of students. There is no such condition in the act of educational boards that allows the promotion of students without any exam. However, they have requested education ministry and educational boards to pass an ordinance for such policy change. Higher Education Department has also intimated regarding the delay in admissions of next classes as delay is on the cards due to process of passing an ordinance.

Educational boards don’t have any legal right of promoting the students without any examination and in order to comply with that an amendment to the act shall be made. To support the current promotion policy decision with the backing of law and legal conditions, government is trying to bring in an ordinance for getting the amendment done on formal basis. The official notification of promotion will only be publicized when ordinance is passed by the legislative assembly of Punjab. As per the guidelines of federal government, Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen held a meeting in BISE Multan regarding the finalization of promotion policy. A summary was prepared and sent to Law Ministry and Department but allegations were put from the legal side. In the meanwhile, admissions in next classes can be delayed as promotion policy has gone into another new debate.
