The authorities of the Red Crescent Medical and Dental College have refunded around 300 million rupees (30 crores) they had taken in the name of ‘donations’ from more than 260 students.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar along other judges had visited the college without any prior announcement. Soon after the visit, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted an inquiry of the situation. The college administration admitted during the investigation that around one million rupees from each student have been received in the name of donation which will now be returned soon.
“The college management has returned around Rs300 million to over 260 students currently enrolled with the college,” an official of FIA said.
The FIA has forwarded the report regarding the medical college case to the Supreme Court registrar. It has also highlighted that the college lacks the facilities and faculty requirements set by the PMDC. Moreover, there is no proper merit system for the admission of the students in the college.
