Matric & Inter Exams 2020 schedule to be announced

The joint body of all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) had scheduled a session on Monday, 27th April, 2020 to finalize the schedule of Matriculation and Intermediate exams 2020. The purpose of this session is to either announce the schedule or postponement of examination owing to the corona virus situation in the country. The session will be conducted online in which Chairmen of all provincial boards including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will represent their respective educational boards. The Chairman of Agha Khan Board, Dr. Shahzad Jiva will preside the session.

Session will set guidelines for adopting a uniform policy either on the conduct or postponement of exams and all the provincial governments will be notified in a two weeks’ time so that they can plan accordingly. The agenda of session will include the scheduling of examination in the month of July rather than June, revising the pattern of papers, postponement of exams and procedure of grading. Dr. Shahzad Jiva told us that the conduct of examination in the month of June is difficult due to the corona virus situation all across the country. This is due to the fact that preparation for examination conduction requires 6 to 8 weeks. However, maintaining social distancing for the candidates in examination center is also a challenge.

Hence, the session will discuss the possibility of scheduling examination in the month of July rather than June and if the exams are conducted in July, so what will be the paper pattern. If the scheduling of exams is not possible even in the month of July than we wouldn’t be able to postpone it further. Therefore, lastly, we will bring an important point on the table, in the case of further postponement, direct grading of the students will be discussed. Dr. Shahzad Jiva made it clear that this forum will take a decision keeping in mind the educational continuity, transparency and fairness for the students’.
