Mardan Police arrests 58th suspect in Mashal Khan case

The police has arrested another suspect in Mashal Khan murder case on Thursday. The suspect is one the very few remaining suspects in the case.

Mashal Khan a student of Journalism at Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan was killed by mob after allegations of blasphemy. The investigations later couldn’t find any proof of blasphemy and it was revealed that the murder was politically motivated.

The police has arrested a suspect in the murder case who had a Kalashnikov, a Kalakov and a pistol in his possession. It is the 58th suspect in the murder case while three more suspects are yet to be arrested.

Mashal’s father Mohammad Iqbal has recorded his statement to Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the previous hearing of the case on December 14th.

Earlier, the case was shifted from Mardan to ATC Abbottabad on the request of Mohammad Iqbal and provincial government fearing the trail’s transparency due to the pressure.
