The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an inquiry against Ahad Cheema, the former director general of Lahore Development Authority (LDA). He has been accused of being involved in corruption in PM Laptop Scheme during his appointment as higher education secretary.
Ahad Cheema has been accused of fraud in PM Laptop Scheme as he purchased laptops cheaper and represented its price almost double of the actual price. Ahad Cheema showed a price tag of 38,000 rupees for each laptop while the same model was present at a price of 20,000 rupees in the market.
“The total price of Rs 65 billion of the laptops was paid through the Secretariat branch of The Bank of Punjab,” according to the sources. Ahad Cheema has been arrested by the NAB on the charges of corruption in Ashiyana Housing Scheme.
