Times Higher Education (THE) previously had ranked leading universities of the world, however, they have now publicized the rating of top universities of Asia. International Islamic University (IIU) Islamabad has been rated in top 250 universities based on the THE indicators including Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income.

IIU secured second position across the country in categories, such as, International Outlook and Citations. In other categories, they were able to secure third position among all universities of Pakistan. Rankings for Asian universities included 13 performance indicators in total which are merged into five indicators as mentioned above. Ranking is announced for 2020 and it includes 500 universities from 30 different countries. It is the first time that IIU has been ranked in Top Asian Universities.
