Higher Education Commission (HEC) previously committed to all the universities for continuation of online class despite the connectivity issues in remote areas. Students were protesting largely due to the reason of broken connections and lack of electronic gadgets. However, HEC has now decided to open its hostels for such students. All the students of remote areas can shift into hostels of HEC for attending online classes.
Chairman of HEC said that the commission has requested federal government on approval of the same, which is expected to be granted. HEC will move a small number of students in their hostels so they can continue their online education for facilitating students under strict protocols for curbing the spread of corona virus. Talks with telecommunication companies have also been initiated so that students can get internet bundles at cheaper rates. He also advised the student and academic bodies of universities to discuss the issue of fees so that students can stop protesting.
