HEC to give 100 scholarships to the Pakistani students for higher studies

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has announced to grant 100 scholarships to the law graduates from Balochistan. The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has allocated Rs 448.735 million for the project.

The project has diversity in it as 50 five-year LLB and 10 LLM scholarships would be granted to Baloch students to study in Pakistani universities, whereas 30 Baloch students would be sent abroad for LLM and 10 Baloch students to pursue PhD studies in international universities.

The scholarships are meant to be granted on open merit to the students belonging to Balochistan who want to adopt law as their profession.

This project was announced on the occasion of the visit of PM to Balochistan in the wake of the tragic incident of Civil Hospital, Quetta in 2016 which led to the death of 60 senior lawyers. The incident wiped out an entire senior generation of lawyer creating a crisis of lawyers.

Under the project, 15-20 pc scholarships are reserved for the children of the victims of this tragic incident.
