The Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed conducted a meeting in which the decision was made to establish a university in Khushab. This decision was made to fulfill the academic needs of district Khushab and its nearby areas.

This new university named as The University of Khushab will be formed by merging the sub-campuses University of Education and University of Arid Agriculture. Moreover, the additional land of 30 acres at Jauharabad Khushab, 359 kanals at Gharimukin Stadium and four marlas at Quaidabad will be relocated in the name of the decided university.

The meeting also determined that the matter will be pursued with the Punjab Government for its approval from the provincial legislature and help launching the admission drive in February 2018.
