The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan grants 1000 scholarships to the Sri Lankan Students. In addition, the Pakistan Higher Education Commission will establish the Department of Language and Culture at the University of Colombo. The project will be commenced from fall 2019.

Furthermore, Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission will extend the further academic collaborations with Sri Lanka Higher Education while training to Sri Lankan civil servants.
HEC will organize an academic collaboration with Sri Lanka through Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme. This project will provide the academic assistance to Sri Lankan students and faculty members.

A meeting was organized at the chairman Secretariat, where Chairman of HEC, Dr. Tariq Banuri joined hands for the Sri Lanka exchange programme cooperation with Pakistan’s Higher Education Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Maj. Gen (R) Shahid Hashmat.
Hashmat expounded his accordant commitment to play sounds role in executing the Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme. He further ascribed that the programme would strengthen the bilateral relations among both countries.
Moreover, the meeting was attended by various high profile participants including Executive Director, HEC Dr. Arshad Ali, Advisor of Human Resource Development, Syed Waseem S. Hashmi, Director General of Planning and Development dr. Mazhar Saeed, and the Project Manager, Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme Dr. Arshad Bashir.
