Human development is the most important element in the progress of any country and teachers are playing a vital role in this, Federal Education and Professional Training Minister, Engineer Balighur Rehman said on Wednesday.

The Minister stated this in a ceremony where HEC honoured no less than 64 university teachers with ‘Best University Teacher Award 2016’ in acknowledgment of their exceptional performance.

A cash prize of worth 100,000 PKR and a certificate was given to each teacher.

Engr Balighur Rehman dignified the event as the chief guest, while HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, HEC Executive Director Dr Arshad Ali, HEC Operation & Planning Member Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti, HEC General Academics Director Raza Chohan and a many other faculty members graced the ceremony.

HEC has instructed the universities and degree awarding institutions to announce teachers’ names which are eligible for this award. Selected private universities have also been included in this process.
