HEC approves budget for Phase II of GCU KSK Campus

Despite of the corona virus situation in the country, Higher Education Commission has approved the budget of 1.2 billion approximately for the construction of Government College University (GCU) Lahore’s Kala Shah Kaku (KSK) Campus. The budget was approved under the title of Phase II for the development of GCU Lahore KSK Campus. The duration for the completion of development work shall be 36 months. Budget for the development work was approved by HEC’s Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP). The meeting was chaired by Executive Director of HEC. VC of GCU Lahore himself appeared for the meeting and briefed the panel on the progress of Phase I.

VC of GCU Lahore highlighted that the construction of Phase II was critical for the campus to be operational. The Phase II’s approval was granted to university based on majority portion of Phase I to be completed. Currently, Phase I is being used as a quarantine center by the government of Punjab. As soon as the situation gets improved, the campus can be operational and facilitate students in their educational continuation as advocated by VC. The campus shall be offering programs under 27 different faculties. Later on, a transport facility between the two campuses will be used. Lastly, the importance of campus was highlighted by VC as it will be in extremely close vicinity to the major centers like Lahore, Gujranwala and other adjoining areas.
