Govt announces Public Holidays’ Calendar for 2018

The govt of Punjab has announced the holiday schedule for the year 2018 and this calendar includes the holidays from academic institutions as well as from government offices.

Apart from summer and winter vacations, the people of Punjab would enjoy 14 holidays during the year. Out of these 14, a few have already passed like 5th of February (Kashmir Day).  

Here is a list of Public holidays which the Government of Punjab has announced.

  • Kashmir Day: February 5th 2018.
  • Pakistan Day: March 23rd 2018.
  • Labor Day: May 1st 2018.
  • Eid-ul-Fitr: June 16th, 17th and 18th (moon’s appearance to be considered)
  • Independence Day: August 14th 2018.
  • Eid-ul-Azha: August 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2018 (moon’s appearance to be considered)
  • Aashura: September 21st and 22nd, 2018 (depends upon moon appearance)
  • Eid Milad-un-Nabi: November 21st (moon’s appearance to be considered)
  • Christmas/Quaid-e-Azam Day: December 25th, 2018.

There will be an extra holiday on 26th of December but this holiday is meant for the Christians only.

Hilly areas will have summer vacation from 16th of July to 29th of July but these areas will get long winter vacation starting from 20th December and ending on 4th of March. Government has different plans for the plain areas. The summer vacation will start from 1st of June and end on 14th of August. Moreover, these areas will get short winter vacation from December 24th to December 31st.
