All the examinations were cancelled by the federal and provincial governments in order to curb the spread of corona virus. The students in this year are being promoted without conducting any exams as they will be awarded marks based on previous year’s assessments. Similar practices were followed by Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) as all examinations were cancelled. Admissions are also being opened by the board and students are given a deadline of submitting their fees by 15th June, 2020.
Regular students will be promoted as per the announcement, however, private students would have to appear in the exams but their examination fee are being reduced by 40%. Private students may have to appear in the exam within the current year, although its date and schedule is yet to be finalized. Recently, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Investment of Punjab also directed PBTE to reduce the fee substantially for the benefit of students. But students who are unsuccessful in more than 40% of the subjects will have to appear in a special exam that might be conducted in the month of November or December.
