Government of Punjab has issued a notification to all its District Education Authorities (DEAs) for distribution of free textbooks in all public sector schools from tehsil warehouses. This decision has been taken for the smoothening the academic session of 2020-2021. Punjab has 128 tehsil warehouses in which material has been made available by the Program Director of government of Punjab. The notification states that now it is the responsibility of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of respective DEAs to distribute the books among students.

Opening up of administrative offices of the schools is also allowed in the notification. Monday and Tuesday are the dedicated days in which administrative functions shall be carried out with ensuring minimum staff. Distribution of free textbooks shall be managed within those days with ensuring social distancing. It is advised that Secretary School Education shall ensure the distribution on class-wise basis. Lastly, the final point of the notification suggests that all SOPs issued by Health Department in the wake of covid-19 must be adhered.
