The students belonging to different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will get free education in Chinse universities. The free education will be provided by Kohala Hydro Company, a state-owned power company of China, to the affected students by power generation projects.
The company, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges, is responsible for executing the 1,100MW Kohala hydro-power project on Jhelum River in the valley, said Fayyaz Ali Abbasi, Secretary Electricity AJK government.
The company will provide free electrical engineering courses to the students belonging to the affected areas of power generation projects under its “Community Investment and Social Responsibility Program” to benefit the students of these areas.
“A group of 18 students has already been selected in a transparent manner. The selected students will get fully sponsored for first two years of education in the University of Punjab and remaining two years in China,” said Abbasi. The first batch of the students has already completed the degree, he added.
“Four to five more similar groups will be selected purely on merit to get the education of electrical engineering in various Chinese universities,” he further said.
