Chinese Language Leaning; 151 Students to Leave for China on Scholarship

In order to prepare the students for CPEC projects and enhance their abilities, the government of Punjab will send 151 students to China to learn Chinese language on scholarship. 
 
The ceremony was held on Wednesday at University of Education (UoE) Lahore for the students who won the scholarship to travel to China for Chinese language learning. 
 
Punjab’s minister for higher education Syed Raza Ali Gillani was invited as the chief guest of the ceremony. Vice Chancellor of UoE Rauf-i-Azam was also there at the ceremony. This selection of the students was an aspect of the cooperation between the university and Punjab government to send the students to China for Chinese language learning.  
 
Addressing to the ceremony the minister Gillani said that the program would allow the students to improve their skills and work under various projects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The students knowing two languages will work as facilitators and prove to be more efficient workers, he added. 
 
Moreover he said, ““The Punjab government has allocated Rs2.28 billion for the programmes to train students for CPEC related projects. The students need to work hard and make the country proud as they are the ambassadors of Pakistan,” while he was speaking at the ceremony. 
 
The university with the collaboration of the government has sent 345 students to China till the date, said UoE Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam. 
 
The government had offered to send 500 students on scholarship and the university had received as many as 9,000 applications from the students. 
 
The minister also distributed laptops among students at the ceremony.
