Chairman of HEC Takes a Special Move For the Betterment of Pakistani Varsities

 

The Chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Professor Doctor Tariq Banuri has suggested that 1 percent of GDP is necessary to the Higher Education Sector. He highlighted on the autonomy of varsities and policy shifts to gear up the varsities of Pakistan between the top 500 universities in the world.

The Chairman of HEC said, after visiting several universities on Monday like University of Punjab (PU), the Government College University (GCU), University of Engineering and Technology, and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).

Dr. Banuri addressed in a meeting with Professor Niaz Ahmed, Heads of Departments; while raising a demand to allocate 1 percent of the GDP to the Higher Education sector. Moreover, he spoke that HEC has planned to bring 15 varsities among the top 100 Asian varsities and top 500 varsities in the world. He further detailed that HEC would work to enhance the effectiveness and make it superior in a right way.

The Chief of HEC added that the commission would recruit the foreign faculty members. Later, he committed to improving the standard of education while mentioning that the quality would not be compromised on the premises of education. He has determined for a special move to bring up the Pakistani universities on the top of the world.
