Eight projects regarding higher education have been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP). The total cost of the projects would be 28.9 billion rupees which will also include the scholarships and strengthening of infrastructure and other facilities.
In order to send 2,000 doctoral students to foreign universities, a massive amount of 20.9 billion rupees has been allocated for the scholarships.
College of Nursing and Community Medicine at Peoples University of Medical Sciences, Nawabshah, sub-campus of National Textile University in Karachi and Science Laboratory and Creative Art Centre, IBA University, Sukkur will also be established under these projects.
Advancement of academic and research facilities at the University of Kotli, the formation of Women Campuses at Kohat and Bannu and formation of Institute of Science and Technology at Bahawalpur are also included in these projects.
Most of the projects will be carried out in the less developed areas like Nawabshah, Sukkur, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Kohat and Bannu.
The improvement of education and research in the country and producing quality scholars in order to meet the challenges of the future are main objectives of the projects.
