One of the famous Madrassah’s Education Board in the country, Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan has announced the annual exams schedule along with other madrassahs joining them. Exams will be started from 5th August, 2020, whereas, few of the madrassahs are also planning to resume classes on the same date. However, the decision isn’t supported in the ranks of government and education departments but Madrassahs have ensured compliance to all SOPs for curbing the spread of disease but carrying out the activities at the same time.
A meeting of Federal Education Minister is also scheduled on 7th July, 2020 in which the decision of whether opening the madrassahs or not will be taken. Spokesperson of the Madaris said that they are hopeful of opening up of all religious seminaries and government would also agree to their request. Spokesperson further commented that all religious seminaries will follow the SOPs announced by World Health Organization (WHO).
Nevertheless, Madrassahs are in the favor of opening religious seminaries for carrying out of academic activities even if the government doesn’t allow. This indicates a serious rift between Madrassahs and Federal Government in the times to come. Lastly, the spokesperson said that Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia has to conduct exams otherwise students will lose one academic year.
