The government of Punjab had advised respective education departments to communicate the promotion information through a circular or notification so that the changes are implemented across the institutions. Recently, School Education Department (SED) of Punjab has issued a notification to all public and private sector schools stating the promotion of students in next class without any annual examination.

Notification says that in the wake of corona virus, annual examinations are being suspended in order to ensure safety of students and staff. Hence, as per the directives and guidelines of regulatory bodies and government departments, annual examinations for 2020 are cancelled. Lastly, the notification states that all students up to class 8 will get promotion in next classes without any sort of assessment. It is to be noted that 9^th and 10^th classes are being dealt as per policies of educational boards.
