A recent development took place when Pakistan opened its borders for Kartarpur Sahib corridor. When the entire world is experiencing lockdowns, the opening up of border for Sikh pilgrimages is an excellent initiative. Similarly, Governor Punjab visited Nankana Sahib recently and has initiated to make a new university with the name of Baba Guru Nanak University. The bill for the university has been signed by Governor Punjab and will now be approved in the provincial assembly of Punjab.
An international standard university will be built on the outskirts of Lahore with focusing on research and becoming a center of excellence in various disciplines. Establishing an international university close to the city of Nankana Sahib will bring prosperity and progression for the region. More importantly, it would be a symbol of Sikh-Muslims friendship and will bring back tourism to the regions of Nankana Sahib, Hasan Abdal and Kartarpur especially from India.
