The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar was established in 1961 for the overall province of KPK. It had sub offices in different areas and districts. The increasing number of institutes and students in the province made the board overburdened and put immense pressure on the examination body to form some other BISE boards for these districts and areas too. Total 8 boards were formed then, out of which Malakand Board is one. Malakand Board organizes the Matric and Intermediate exams in Malakand Division. Upper Dir, Lower Dir, District Malakand and Bajaur Agency are the four zones that are the official jurisdiction of the Malakand Board. BISE Malakand held the HSSC exams in these four zones simultaneously to maintain w symmetry. Usually the exams for Inter part 2 are held before the commencement of Inter part 1 exams. Part 2 exams are held in April whereas the date sheet is announced two months before the exams. And the annual exams of inter part 1 are held in May right after the exams of part 2. The date sheet is announced two month before the exams.
Thousands of students get registered under the Malakand Board every year for Intermediate exams. BISE Malakand gives a fair and equal opportunity to all the students of the Urban and tribal areas to participate in Intermediate exams to pursue higher education and a bright future . The registration process is both easy and understandable for the students. A registration form is issued by the board and proper formats are given to all the institutes for the students to understand and fill the forms easily. The necessary information and all the particulars are required to be filled correctly. Other than those, the private candidates can also apply for Intermediate exams by getting themselves registered through the designated board offices. Besides organizing annual exams for Intermediate, BISE Malakand organizes the supplementary exams for the students who are unable to clear the exams for whatever reasons. Supplementary exams for Intermediate part 2 by Malakand Board are conducted in the month of October and the supplementary exams date sheet is announced in September after the annual exam results of the year. The date sheet is announced one to two months before the exams to give ample preparation time to the students. Unlike part 2, the supply exams for inter part 1 are not held separately. They are taken with the annual exams of part 1 next year and students are required to clear them.
The students should take intermediate very seriously and they should work very hard for this as it is one of the major milestones of a student's life. If the students score good grades in Intermediate, they can get admission in their desired institutes with their desired fields and subjects. Various options are given to the students in Intermediate covering all the major fields of life. There are a total four groups and these are Science, Arts, Commerce and IT. The brief description is as:
FSC PRE-ENGINEERING (Physics Chemistry Mathematics)
FSC PRE-MEDICAL (Physics Chemistry Biology)
Fine Arts (General Science and Humanities)
ICS (Physics/ Economics/ Stats)
Medical and engineering fields top the lists with highest merit. For the admission in medical and engineering, students need to secure minimum 85% approximately in their SSC exams. Then comes ICS, ICOM and FA courses. The only subject difference between the medical and engineering is Biology or Mathematics. ICS is the IT related field and it is offered with three optional subjects. ICOM is the Commerce education related to business, banking and accountancy. Fine Arts is for the students interested in home economics, arts and crafts and languages. Institute and subject selection for Intermediate is really critical. Students should choose their subjects wisely according to their interests. Their future is based on this decision. All these fields have wide scope for progress and prosperity for the students. Malakand Board announces the date sheets for Intermediate exams on a said time period every year. Some changes are made in the exam schedule according to the need. Malakand Board makes sure to keep the intermediate exams process transparent and error free.
