Since 1947, the examination of matriculation and intermediate levels were administered and governed by it's patronage University of Punjab. In 1954, the modification was being made in the Punjab University Act Ordinance 1954 and Board of intermediate and secondary education was founded. BISE was made to govern and organize the examination unit for matriculation and intermediate level. In 1955, Board of Intermediate and secondary education BISE supervised it's first examination round for matric and intermediate classes. Tremendous boost in student registration directed to the construction of two new boards BISE Multan and BISE Sargodha which were formulated under West Pakistan Board of intermediate and secondary education. With the passage of time additional branches of BISE were established at Rawalpindi and Gujranwala to perform and govern exam sessions and other related movements. Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1976 supported the reestablishment of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Education, Lahore.
BISE Gujranwala is one of the popular and enormous examination commanding organization in the region of Punjab. The inter exams are divided in 2 regimes, part 2 (12th grade) exams are carried out before and intermediate part 1 (11th grade) are being performed after all the classes.

Intermediate in Commerce naming I.Com
Intermediate in Arts (F.A) including Humanities
If the desired profession is in medical or engineering than up to 90% of total marks are needed in both Intermediate levels for earning admission in a govt institution. After matriculation, intermediate is a career determining degree for students because it directs the individuals to the particular professional e.g. If selecting a Pre medical subject in FSc then the career would be in medical associated professions like medical science, dentistry or specialized qualifications in respective subject So wisely electing the subjects according to the goal and scope is the core prerequisite. In 2019, BISE Gujranwala declared the date sheet of intermediate in mid of April and exams were conducted in May to onwards. BISE Gujranwala Board Intermediate Date Sheet 2020 usually declared almost a month prior the beginning of exams only to provide students preparation time.
