Board of intermediate education Karachi, the primary controlling body of Karachi is also named as BIEK. BIEK is the parent organization for organizing and governing matriculation and intermediate classes of Sindh province. The basic justification behind their program is to schedule Matric and intermediate examinations, revise the courseworks and examinations method and distribute procedures and policies to all the institutions in the city. Likewise its their obligation to redesign the standards of education and evaluation techniques as per current day conditions. Moreover, informing those renewed approaches to all the related institutes also belongs to their responsibilities. They propose intermediate coursework in accordance to the BISE Pakistan with the objective that all the urban cities and provinces of the country work jointly on the equal formulated courses.

Intermediate degree is the one of the most crucial phase in the life of a student. It is the primary move towards arriving in professional world. The subjects and fields selected in intermediate degree stays with the student in higher phases of education. Intermediate degree implies HSSC (Higher Secondary School Education). Primarily in Pakistan, Intermediate degree is divided into 2 parts. Part 1 is 11th grade and part 2 is 12th grade. Each grade is composed of one year. By the end of each year, annual board examinations are being carried out the BSEK from the students to examine their understanding and preparation for their particular careers.
